I watching CNN yesterday, when I heard a financial guru from a conservative think tank opine that one of the reasons that we are having such an economic downturn in this country right now is  that people are  “forgetting to spend money.”

I don’t know about you, but that happens all the time around our house - more and more frequently, especially as times get leaner.  Tracy looks at our bank account and says accusingly, “We have too much money left over after paying bills. What happened?”

“Damn!” I’ll slap myself on the forehead. “I forgot to spend money this month!”

I’ll try to do better in the future. Maybe I’ll Supersize the next time I get a Big Mac.

Fayetteville: An Alternative History

I’ve been preparing to begin work on a documentary - “Fayetteville: An Alternative History” - about folks have used alternative media to promote social and political change in Fayetteville over the past few decades.

This include alternative newspapers, public access television, music, talk radio, the Internet, and anything I may have neglected to add. We’re looking for anyone who’d like to come into the studio and talk for a couple of minutes about their experiences.

Fayetteville Open Channel - The Last Live Show

Anyway - I told you all that to tell you this:

Going thorough my storage unit today, I found the last - yes, the last - live production done at Fayetteville Open Channel in 1992, the last night it was on the air, before it switched the reins of powers over to Access 4 Fayetteville (C.A.T.'s original name)  It features several FOC board members, producers and talk show hosts talking about why they love FOC, and the current political situation in Fayetteville.

It will probably be re-edited at some point and shown on C.A.T.

As a look at a particular moment in time, it is fascinating, to put it mildly.
