FGC Issue Forums - Time to tap into the passion and eloquence that is Fayetteville's?

A number of people have mailed me about the Fayetteville Government Channel/issue forum controversy, and asked me my opinion on what they personally can do to make their voice heard.

In all the noise, and the endless dry meetings, and the debates, and the blogging, we tend to forget something important, and that is that the people of Fayetteville are passionate and eloquent in the defense of what they care about. We have seen that many times in the past.

It is, truly, a wonder to behold.

In fact, the citizens of Fayetteville may well be the most passionate and eloquent in Northwest Arkansas - be it in the form of letters to aldermen,  letters to the editor, appearances on C.A.T., or standing up at City Council meetings.

Several people have already written letters, with one going directly to the Terelecomm Board itself, which will revisit the issue in July. An excellent letter also appeared in the newspoaper recently, and someone has written to his aldermen.

If someone feels strongly on the subject, and wishes to write to me, I promise to pass it along to the other members of the Telecomm Board - no matter which side of the issue your views fall on.

I’ve felt that passion when I’ve talked to people on the street and read their personal emails on the subject. Now maybe it’s time for folks to take a more public stand, no matter how they feel about issue forums?

Christmas in July

July 4 weekend!

Between advising on firework safety and promoting the Rodeo of the Ozarks, will KFSM really have much work to do this week, especially as the weekend nears?
