March, 2009: Good news for all who still miss the old Women's Conference and Festival
I got a notice from popular local singer Jori Costello last night, announcing a new festival coming in March of 2009 - Goddesses, Angels, and Amazons. It is currently in the planning stages, and a call for artists and contributors has just gone out. While the festival is open to all, performance slots are only open to women.

Producers of the event are the well-known artist, writer and activist Diana Rivers and Vicky Kelly (Soap and Vick Events). Both women have worked toghether on such ventures as Goddess Productions, MatriArts and the 10 year running Women's Conference and Festival, held at the
UA.

Another shortsighted move by the UA
The Women’s Conference and Festival was a nice yearly event that many looked forward to, held at the University of Arkansas - till the UA decided to withdraw funding. Nice going, UA.

Still, the Women’s Conference and Festival lives on - on C.A.T.
Though the Conference/Festival has been gone from the scene for a decade, it still lives on, reaching more and more people through the years, through reruns of some of the events on Fayetteville’s Community Access Television.
Lectures, workshops, musical performances - they are all as alive as when they first took place.
Too bad your town doesn’t have public access television, isn’t it?
