Discover Your Path to Honor
The military has played important roles here since the ArkansasTerritory was created in 1819. Militias patrolled the border with the Native American Territory in the 1830s, and the state later helped Texas gain independence from Mexico. Although the state reluctantly joined the Confederacy in the Civil War, its militias fought for both sides, sometimes brother against brother. Arkansas Soldiers have seen service in WWI, WWII, Korea, Desert Storm and Iraq. The Arkansas Army National Guard has also aided domestic flood rescue and recovery efforts. It's all part of a path to honor that welcomes your contribution.
