Ryan convicted for corruption

Posted By on Mon, Apr 17, 2006 at 2:36 PM

Former Republican Illinois governor George Ryan today was convicted on federal corruption charges stemming from bribery and racketeering.

The prosecutor? U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald, who is currently investigating the White House leak case involving Valerie Plame.

From Jack Abramoff to U.S. Rep. Randy "Duke" Cunningham (and more), it's already been a long year for Republicans fighting the "culture of corruption" label ... and it's only April.
