Hurry January

A kind word for Asa Hutchinson, the Republican candidate for governor.

We asked his press spokesman, David Kinkade, if a Governor Hutchinson would send news releases and notices of news conferences to the Arkansas Times. His response:

We don't have any illusions that the Arkansas Times is an objective news source -- it's more of a partisan combatant in the political arena. That said, you know that openess and transparency in government is one of the key themes of our campaign, and it will be one of the defining characteristics of Asa's administration.

Does that mean we would get notice of news conferences and news releases on the same basis as other reporters?

Hooray. A grown-up will be the Republican candidate for governor this year.
