The Little Rock Zoo reports that Pooh, the 35-year-old sun bear, was "euthanized" Friday. The bear (the one depicted is from the Minneapolis Zoo) was the oldest living sun bear in captivity, maybe the oldest ever in captivity for a species that generally lives to be about 25. The bear had a number of ailments -- allergies, a thyroid condition and was showing signs of neurological dysfunction. The bear was put to death after it had stopped eating and drinking. Just like its namesake, the bear loved honey. Also peanut butter sandwiches.
