Tree huggers

On the NW D-G's website, a report on an ordinance in the works in Fayetteville to make it harder to cut down trees:

The intent of the ordinance is to extend tree preservation requirements that now apply to developers to all builders and contractors building on individual lots citywide. It would not keep homeowners from cutting the trees on their property unless they were building or remodeling in such a way that the "footprint" of an existing building changed.
