Telephone calls

Posted By on Wed, May 17, 2006 at 9:27 PM

Too late to check further, but we've gotten a number of complaints about automated telephone calls today SEEMINGLY in support of Supreme Court Justice Donald Corbin. The taped caller we got at home, identified only as Gene, says Corbin has been a supporter of property rights and delivered opinions protecting property from the government.

There's no message saying who paid for the message.

It's sleazy, whoever is responsible.

Added note: The phone calls do not urge a vote for Corbin. Absent a direct advocacy pitch, such calls can be exempt from the usual campaign reporting niceties if they are mounted by an "independent" entity. That's just one of the reasons they are sleazy.
