Give me a 'W' etc.

CNN says promises of more fashionable duds, more organic products, a greener truck fleet and the usual cheering were among the highlights of today's Wal-Mart stockholder meeting. Surely nobody cheered the stock price, in the tank for seveal years now.

Stockholders also were to be greeted by demonstrators calling on Wal-Mart to pay workers more and provide more health coverage.

  • Judge anticipates punishment of lawyers in Fort Smith class action case

    Federal Judge P.K. Holmes of Fort Smith issued a 32-page ruling yesterday indicating he contemplates punishment of 16 lawyers who moved a class action lawsuit against an insurance company out of his court to a state court in Polk County after a settlement had been worked out.
