Now that the PSC staff has recommended a 10 percent rate increase for Entergy (a decision that will be subject to PSC hearings) you can expect that the A$aphants will begin wailing about Mike Beebe's ties to Entergy. Fair enough. He entered the race with a long association with that utility and its lobbyist and he better have some good talking points, not to mention a vigorous rate advocacy division doing its best for ratepayers. (It's true that FERC has put much the state's destiny out of the hands of local regulators.)

But before the A$a crowd gets too apopletic, answer me this: Has A$a returned the $2,000 contribution he got from the Entergy PAC in March?

  • Cats and dogs

I've always been leery of people who dislike animals. To my wife and me, a house without dog hair in the corners and a cat perched on the windowsill is as barren as a highway rest stop. We're down to three dogs and two cats, the smallest menagerie we've had for years.
