AA baseball one step closer to Springdale

Posted By on Wed, Jul 12, 2006 at 8:50 AM

Springdale voters yesterday narrowly passed a sales-tax extension to build a $50 million minor league baseball stadium, with 2,410 in favor and 2,393 opposed.

The next step is to get a team there. Negotiations are ongoing with the Wichita Wranglers, who play in the same AA Texas League as the (soon-to-be-North) Little Rock-based Arkansas Travelers. According to this round-up on the Travelerocity blog, Wichita still has thirty days to try to keep the team.
