Today in the governor's race (UPDATE)

Posted By on Mon, Aug 14, 2006 at 10:31 AM

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mike Beebe launched television advertisements this morning.

Campaign spokesman Zac Wright confirmed the new ads began their broadcast rotation today.

One blog reader e-mailed, "He's wearing a denim shirt, talks about his mother the struggling waitress and takes credit for helping pass the state minimum wage increase."

UPDATE: Wright issued this statement in behalf of the campaign:

"We’re excited to have the ability to be up on television and able to communicate our message directly. We continue to operate on our timetable to November, including communicating Mike Beebe’s positive message to believe in Arkansas and his plan for jobs, education and health care directly with Arkansans."

Wright said the ads soon will be available for viewing at Beebe's campaign website.
