The judge comes to his senses

Posted By on Thu, Aug 24, 2006 at 5:51 AM

Brummett commentary today on Judge Jay Moody's reversal -- and ultimate correct final decision -- in the infamous Paron case.

He dissolved the temporary injunction and said the district and state had met all applicable procedural guidelines in closing Paron.

He didn't mention anything about that curious right to a nebulously short school bus ride, which was just as well. Some things are better left to evaporation.

He saved local control. He saved state oversight. He saved himself a rude reversal by the Arkansas Supreme Court.

Watching the Charlottesville spectacle from halfway across the country, I confess that my first instinct was to raillery. Vanilla ISIS, somebody called this mob of would-be Nazis. A parade of love-deprived nerds marching bravely out of their parents' basements carrying tiki torches from Home Depot.
