Speaking of Walton money

Posted By on Wed, Sep 6, 2006 at 8:09 PM

A correspondent reports on telephone political activity. Our guess:  this is the Alltel/Hussman/Walton-backed candidate for LR School Board, Melanie Fox, spending some of her comparatively big loot to identify voters for callbacks in the LR School Board election. That's how much this election means to the plutocrats, who are buying the School Board for their merit-pay, school choice, voucher, bust-the-union initiatives. It will be another bargain. It's amazing what $50,000 or so will be able to buy.

I just had a strange phone call from a guy that first sounded either slightly retarded or just strange ... wanted to know if I would answer questions for a survey on the school board election.

Him:  Are you planning to vote in the election?

me:  Yes.

Him:  Are you voting for Fox or for Roddy (which he pronounced Roady)?

Me:  Who is sponsoring this survey?

Him:  The school board (!)

Me:  I don't think so...

Him (to someone else):  She got me there.

Click.

Wish I could have got a little more on this ... His accent was definitely not from here ...

The Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality has denied a new permit for the C&H Hog Farms' concentrated animal feeding operation near Mount Judea (Newton County).
