The Republican Party is getting behind its crazy man Jim Holt, perhaps the only statewide candidate with a shot at victory this year. It claims to have rooted through Washington, D.C., property tax records and found Democrat Bill Halter received some homestead tax exemptions on a house there to which he wasn’t entitled.

OOOPS. Looks like Bill Halter’s response has nailed this one as nonsense. And they’ve got a release of their own on Holt’s legislative voting record — a rich field to plow. The latest they’ve highlighted is his vote against battered women.

OH, NEVER MIND: Clint Reed of the state GOP manfully closes the great tax scandal: “We simply asked for Mr. Halter to provide clarification as to this property tax issue. I feel that Mr. Halter’s campaign has provided an adequate explanation.”
