Fancy football

Posted By on Wed, Nov 15, 2006 at 5:25 AM

Because of citizen outcry, Rogers has scrapped talk of using taxpayer money to build private skyboxes on the new high school football stadium. Not to worry, fat cats. There still will be 300 chairback seats in a "club" seating level for high rollers. And it's still not too late for private money to come up with the $313,000 necessary to put skyboxes atop the "climate-controlled" press box. Back in the day when I covered high school football, climate control meant a roof.

And speaking of Rogers: Anybody else heard the rumor that Northwest Arkansas bigshots had begun lobbying to move the state high school championship game from War Memorial to Razorback Stadium when it looked like it might involve two NWA teams?
