Judicial Discipline change

KUAR reports that James Badami has formally announced his long-planned intentions to retire this summer as head of the agency that investigates and disciplines state judges. KUAR said it's unclear what this holds for the ongoing effort by the Judicial Discipline and Disability Commission to squelch the free speaking of Appellate Court Judge Wendell Griffen, who filed his latest brief in the case today with the Arkansas Supreme Court. We predict that effort will continue unabated, perhaps with Badami staying to complete that particular case, which he feels strongly about.
Rumors have been circulating for some time about people interested in succeeding Badami, including current commission staffer Jay Wills and Little Rock District Judge David Stewart.
