Little Rock School Board President Katherine Mitchell just called a special board meeting for 5 p.m. tonight.

The board will immediately go into executive session to discuss the behavior of Little Rock School Superintendent Roy Brooks.

According to Mitchell, several board members expressed their desire to have a meeting to discuss Brooks’ handling of Karen DeJarnette, who was reinstated this week after Brooks suspended her for insubordination related to the ongoing desegregation lawsuit.

“In my thoughts, I don’t know exactly what will come out of the meeting, but the express purpose is to discuss his behavior,” Mitchell said. “I don’t know what the board will decide to do about it.”

Brooks will not participate in the executive session. Asked if his job is on the line, Mitchell said she does not expect any action tonight.
