Hear, hear

E-mail this morning says House Speaker Benny Petrus has joined the roster of sponsors for the Equal Rights Amendment.

Can we get a witness in the Senate? (FYI: the only two state Supreme Courts that have considered the issue -- Washington and bad old liberal Massachusetts -- have ruled that ERA amendment in those states' constitutions may not be used as a justification to legalize same-sex marriage. The Maryland Court of Appeals is considering a city court ruling on the issue, but is weighing other arguments in favor of same-sex marriage in addition to the ERA. So far, the controlling precedents all say that the ERA is about gender, not sexual practice. Anyone arguing otherwise is just pumping the latest smokescreen. It's today's unisex restroom argument.)
