Hendrix College got a prime chunk of newspaper real estate in the NY Times today — a feature on its plan to build an urban village next to campus with residences, college facilities, shops and stuff. Some other colleges in bucolic areas are trying similar projects to jazz up their appeal.
Downtown Conway is only a half-dozen blocks away, but it is “not overflowing with amenities,” as Frank H. Cox, a member of the Hendrix board of trustees, diplomatically put it.
