Under wraps

Posted By on Fri, Mar 23, 2007 at 9:34 AM

There's some self-awareness, don't you think, in the Senate's refusal to allow their sessiosn to be televised. Judging by the way Jack Critcher runs his committee (by "proxy" votes); and how Bobby Glover petulantly punishes the House, and how The Brotherhood governs by shadowy fiat, it's a wonder they haven't closed sessions to the public entirely. (Has anybody told them about the rogue vidoegrapher who films them from the gallery from time to time?)

It is, needless to say, no wonder that the Senate will be a graveyard for ethics legislation. That, and Critcher's high-handed committee meetings, are all too reiminscent of the corrupt practices of Nick Wilson, but with none of his brains or sense of humor.
