Gerth rides again -- UPDATE

Posted By on Wed, Mar 28, 2007 at 5:08 PM

The New York gossip columns are shilling for Jeff Gerth's coming book on Hillary. Need we remind you that Gerth spawned the Whitewater snipe hunt with woefully misleading articles and then helped do a job on Wen Ho Lee. The PR machinery is churning out promises of "explosive" stuff in time to scuttle Hillary's primary election contests, just as Gerth's earlier effort -- primed by Republicans such as Sheffield Nelson and David Hale -- was intended to torpedo Bill Clinton. Here, Gerth might have expected more cooperation, perhaps a complementary investigation of his book's charges, from the U.S. attorney in Little Rock, Karl Rove's gofer, Tim Griffin. If all goes well, the U.S. attorney's office will no longer be operated by a dedicated partisan when the book hits in August.

If you see Gerth around, give us a call. We just may sic Larry Case on his sorry butt.

Speaking of U.S. attorneys: Clinton DID NOT do it, too.

UPDATE ON GERTH BOOK: I've now seen some e-mail from the book authors. Hold onto your hat. They actually plan to mine Bill Clinton's draft records one more time. I kid you not. Relevance of this near-40-year-old episode? The evil Hillary Clinton manipulated things so that crusading New York Times reporters were foiled 15 years ago in their effort to bring down the first Clinton candidacy.
