Radio KTLO, one of the last great radio news outlets in the state in Mountain Home, has the scoop on what looks to be a good new job opening for journalists in booming Mountain Home:

A Mountain Home woman, 43-year old Kandra R. Branam–managing editor of the Baxter Bulletin newspaper–was arrested today and faces felony and misdemeanor charges for allegedly assisting her brother, a wanted felon from Colorado, in his attempts to evade authorities.

Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery says the arrest stems from an incident in January in which Branam allegedly placed a cell phone call to warn her brother while authorities were searching for him after he fled Flippin police following a traffic stop. Authorities later discovered the suspect, identified as 41 year old Thomas Russell Wells, was a Colorado fugitive who had assumed a false identity and was living at Branam’s residence in Mountain Home.

Sheriff Montgomery says Kandra Branam is charged with one Class D felony count of accomplice to fleeing, and two Class A misdemeanors of hindering apprehension or prosecution. One of the misdemeanors involves harboring or concealing a fugitive from justice.
