STATE POLICE NEWS RELEASE

(VAN BUREN) - A lengthy investigation into allegations of illegal cock
fighting and gambling has led law enforcement officers in two states to
execute two federal search warrants and the arrest of individuals in at
least one Arkansas location.  A third search warrant was executed by
federal and state authorities in Oklahoma.

About noon today a search warrant was executed at 10100 Shiloh Road near
the community of Cedarville (Crawford County).  The location consists of
residential structures as well as a large out-building equipped with
"fighting pits" and is designed to accommodate spectators.  A search
warrant was also executed at 3523 Kenner Chapel Road in Rudy community
(Crawford County).

The investigation and today's operations involved officers of the
Crawford County Sheriff's Department, Arkansas State Police, 21st
District Prosecuting Attorney, U.S. Attorney's Office, FBI, U.S.
Marshal's Service, Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the U.S.
Department of Agriculture.

UPDATE FROM STATE POLICE

Agents involved in today's operation remain on the scene of the Shiloh Road raid and as of 8:30 PM, approximately (again, approximately) 70 felony arrests had been made during the afternoon and evening.  USDA authorities are in the process of euthanizing what has been described as a large number of fighting cocks that were seized during the raid.  No further release of information is expected tonight from investigators at the scene.
