FOI ruling expected on Public Ed Foundation --UPDATE

Posted By on Wed, May 23, 2007 at 12:19 PM

After a hearing this morning, Judge Jay Moody said he'll rule late today or early tomorrow on a Little Rock woman's Freedom of Information Act lawsuit against the Little Rock Public Education Foundation. Helen Davis, who has two grandchildren in Little Rock schools, asked to see minutes from PEF board meetings and all written contracts going back two years, but foundation officials insisted it's a private entity not subject to the FOI -- despite receiving public money from the LRSD until last fall to pay part of Executive Director Lisa Black's salary and, currently, to help fund Project SOAR, an assessment program.

UPDATE: The judge's office says the ruling will come in the morning.
