Sex, lies and e-mail

Posted By on Mon, Jun 25, 2007 at 11:29 AM

A tipster says Circuit Judge Mary McGowan has given the county 24 hours to turn over e-mails to and from Ron Quillin, the comptroller charged with embezzling county money who has raised additional questions because of his relationship with a significant county vendor of computer services.

Will County Judge Buddy Villines and County Attorney Karla Burnett fight to the death to keep secret the record of Quillin's work? Might those records reflect on their own work? We asked Burnett last week if she was mentioned in the e-mails she has fought to keep secret. Her response:  "Because that's the subject of litigation and because of the appeal, I don't think it's appropriate to comment on that at this time."
