LR in court

Posted By on Thu, Aug 9, 2007 at 6:53 PM

A lawsuit has been filed to stop the election next week on mayoral power expansion. Plaintiffs are familiar folks in the black community. I'm no lawyer. But I think the lawsuit's value is primarily political.

It's probably a good time to say that -- no matter what YOU think -- a whole lot of black people think this is about curbing the power of a popular, effective and politically astute black man, Bruce Moore, who happens to be city manager.

The LR Fraternal Order of Police endorsed the issues today, by the way. This is one of those VERY RARE occasions when the FOP and the Arkansas Times editorial page agree on an issue.
