Looking up

Brummett is firing arrows today. Hillary is your next president. Huckabee is heading to a Fox talk show.

And speaking of 2008: for weirdness, it's hard to beat David Sanders' theory that a Hillary win would be good for Arkansas Republicans.

Wait. Weirder still is yet another national article on what a nice guy Mike Huckabee is and marveling that his campaign hasn't caught fire. Maybe it's because he's too nice, Newsweek writes. Never mind me and never mind Arkansas Democrats. I'd like to see that proposition put to secret ballot voting by Republican members of the legislature during his Arkansas tenure. Petty, vindictive and selfish are adjectives that would turn up more than once.

The Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality has denied a new permit for the C&H Hog Farms' concentrated animal feeding operation near Mount Judea (Newton County). This is a big and somewhat surprising victory for critics who have viewed C&H's large-scale pig farm and the pig waste it generates as an existential threat to the Buffalo National River.
