Two of the seven soldiers who signed the Aug. 19 New York Times op-ed questioning U.S. progress in Iraq were killed Monday. A third was shot in the head before the article appeared, but is recuperating. A 42 percent casualty rate among op-ed writers should not be taken as an argument that the surge is not working. Bush and Gen. Betrayus say it is.
