She don't need no stinkin' law

Most interesting passage in Laura Kellam's story in today's Democrat-Gazette about the confusion over the marriage age law.

Carroll County Clerk Shirley Doss said she's ignoring the 2007 law altogether -- both the legislative version and the version in the code. She's following the law as it used to be written, which is that girls age 16 and boys age 17 may marry with parentl consent, regardless of whether there's a pregnancy involved.

So my question: What other laws does the clerk choose to ignore? You reckon the attorney general has someone who could call the clerk and explain that the law is as it is codified (no marriages under 18 unless pregnant) until the day a court rules that the Code Revision Commission overreached its authority in cleanup language. Unbelievable.
