Government handouts

A business group, Accelerate Arkansas, announced today a broad strategy to improve Arkansas income, in part by encouraging development of more knowledge-based industry. Here's a release on the broad agenda. This may be a fine and promising program. But it's always interesting to see business people -- generally quick to demean government as an impediment to private enterprise -- go to government with hands out for for tax incentives, direct grants, infrastructure support, seed capital, etc. as a solution.
