Ongoing investigation

Posted By on Tue, Oct 16, 2007 at 12:58 PM

For the record: In discussing the attention paid to former Pulaski comptroller Ron Quillin's $40,000 embezzlement, I mentioned the case of the former director of the state architecture board accused of taking $200,000 in improper expenses. I understand a report to the legislature last week on status of audits referred for prosecutorial review indicated that this case remains under active FBI investigation. I also understand it has a few potential interesting wrinkles should the investigation produce charges.

Great piece in Washington Post on the budget crisis in Louisiana. Big tax cuts and corporate welfare will do that to a state, particularly to a state whose previous governor, Republican Bobby Jindal, refused to join the Obamacare-funded Medicaid expansion. There's a lesson there for Arkansas.
