Kos makes a pretty good case that the right-wing noise machine is just digging itself in deeper by trying to trash every family that says it would benefit from an expansion of health coverage for kids. The hyenas say: Don’t have kids unless you can afford health insurance and, if you do have kids anyway, screw them if they get sick.

This is the pro-lifers at work in their full glory, worshipping the fetus and condemning the ill child to Darwinian justice. Mike Huckabee sometimes says the right thing on this subject, but lately, he’s been dodging  the subject of health insurance and Bush’s veto. It’s another instance  — like the war, like ethics — where he had an open field to differentiate himself in a big way but couldn’t, wouldn’t do it.
