Legislative notes

Rep. Steve Harrelson's Under the Dome blog continues as a useful source of legislative notes. A recent scan: He says seven legislators are committed in 2009 to attempt to legislate ethics reform (the best way, though a longshot among that gang of boodlers); he has a map of the Senate district Republican Shawn Womack is leaving to run for circuit judge (abandon hope all gay people who enter that judge's court, presuming his poor legal ethics record doesn't get him beat); and the coming announcement of Democrat Darrin Williams of Little Rock to succeed state Rep. Linda Chesterfield, who's term limited.

  • Speaking of hard times in newspapers: Democrat-Gazette's move to digital

    Word continues to filter in of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette's pullback from statewide circulation of a print daily edition of the newspaper — the latest from the Hot Springs area, just 50 or so miles down the road from Little Rock. Subscribers there were told home delivery of a print paper would end in May.
