The Sabbath gasbags

It would appear Stephen Colbert's appearance with Tim Russert on Meet the Press was the top event of the Sunday talk shows.

He's in the South Carolina primary to win -- one delegate -- said Colbert. And though he'd earlier mentioned Mike Huckabee as a possible running mate, he indicated today he might seek someone with higher name recognition -- Sen. Larry Craig.

The NY Times called the appearance "bizarre." More bizarre than yesterday's values coalition/tent revival? I don't think so.

UPDATE: David Carr sees the Colbert appearance as another sign of the waning influence of network news.
