Huckabee fiction -- UPDATE

Posted By on Wed, Oct 24, 2007 at 5:49 AM

We linked yesterday a Rich Lowry column in National Review in which he said Mike Huckabee was his own speech writer. Wonder who told him that? Or did he make it up out of whole cloth?

Because here, Stephens Media columnist David Sanders explains, The Huckster has most definitely employed speech writers. The Hucksterites haven't responded to Sanders' inquiry on whether they were responsible for this fiction.

UPDATE: A former Huckabee staffer notes that Rich Lowry said on a National Review blog today that the item was fed to him by a Huckabee aide. I presume a Huckabee condemnation of this dishonesty will follow shortly.

UPDATE II: And now Sanders and Rex Nelson are in a cat fight over the issue.
