Who stole our country?

Frank Rich laments that Democrats are among those responsible, in confirming Mukasey, for wrecking the U.S. image as some kind of moral exemplar. We stand for pre-emptive war, torture and a loss of individual liberty at home. This won't be easily turned around -- not with Roberts and Alito and Thomas and Scalia on the Supreme Court -- any time soon, no matter who is elected in 2008. Presuming Bush doesn't pull a Pakistan.
