Let the smoke belch -- UPDATE

Posted By on Wed, Nov 21, 2007 at 3:06 PM

Here's the Arkansas PSC announcement of the commission's 2-1 approval (David Newbern dissenting) of a permit for the SWEPCO coal-burning power plant. The majority placed conditions on approval intended to address environmental concerns. You're not in Kansas when it comes to coal generating plants.

UPDATE: The Beebe waffle is rich. And shame on Paul Suskie, who says this was about insuring sufficient, economical energy for Arkansas. Better way: Conserve so that existing -- much cheaper -- power sources are sufficient for our needs.
