Rally for the WM3

Posted By on Mon, Dec 17, 2007 at 2:58 PM

The time for the West Memphis Three rally is 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Capitol.

Community leaders and concerned citizens will gather at 11 a.m. Wednesday morning at the Arkansas Vietnam Veterans Memorial and unfurl a large banner with thousands of postcards from people around the world who support the West Memphis Three. At noon, they will arrive at the front steps of the State Capitol for a rally urging Governor Mike Beebe and Attorney General Dustin McDaniel to help overturn the convictions. After the rally, hundreds of letters and petitions will be delivered to Beebe’s office. Dixie Chicks lead singer Natalie Maines will speak at the rally, engage in a brief Q&A and help deliver the letters and petitions to Beebe.

  • Trump immigration protest at LR: Quick and fierce

It was not even 24 hours ago that Sophia Said, director of the Interfaith Center; City Director Kathy Webb and others decided to organize a protest today of Donald Trump's executive order that has left people from Muslim countries languishing in airports or unable to come to the US at all — people with visas, green cards,a  post-doc graduate student en route to Harvard, Google employees abroad, families. I got the message today before noon; others didn't find out until it was going on. But however folks found out, they turned out in huge numbers, more than thousand men, women and children, on the grounds of the state Capitol to listen to speakers from all faiths and many countries.
