LR has a budget

Posted By on Fri, Dec 21, 2007 at 4:32 PM

With a small amount of argument, the Little Rock Board of Directors adopted a $134 million budget for 2008 this afternoon. To make up for a projected shortage of revenues, parking ticket fines increase and franchise fees for water and sewer service will rise to a whopping 10 percent.

After a bit of bickering on items such as the raises given to city employees (too little, some thought), the amount of money allotted to cultural items like the  Rep, Museum of Discovery and Symphony and possible new revenue streams in the future, the Board passed the budget by a vote of 6 to 4. Nays were from Richardson, Wyrick, Adcock and Hendrix.
