Are you ready for some real work?

Posted By on Mon, Jan 14, 2008 at 10:35 AM

Gov. Beebe today announced a workforce readiness program in which potential workers could qualify for a certificate that attests to their readiness based on a test battery. A number of other states have similar programs.

Hmmm. Wonder if I'm job ready by this assessment. If mechanical aptitude counts, I'm sunk.

This program addresses some of the whispers that worker readiness could have been a factor in some recent plant siting decisions that bypassed Arkansas.

Great piece in Washington Post on the budget crisis in Louisiana. Big tax cuts and corporate welfare will do that to a state, particularly to a state whose previous governor, Republican Bobby Jindal, refused to join the Obamacare-funded Medicaid expansion. There's a lesson there for Arkansas.
