The low state of the GOP

John Brummett examines the weakened Arkansas GOP, which so far hasn't scared up an opponent against U.S. Sen. Mark Pryor. Party Chair Dennis "What we need is another 9/11" Milligan admits what Republicans have been saying for a long time -- there's no point stirring up Pryor's Get Out The Vote effort with a weak candidate as long as Arkansas has a chance of delivering the state to the Republican presidential column. Excited multitudes -- particularly black voters -- marking a ballot for Pryor are certain to vote for the Democratic presidential candidate, Republicans tacitly acknowledge.
