An utter lack of Arkansas Republicans with any stature or vote-pulling power outside the Shiite sector is another explanation, but this Stephens lead puts senatorial politics in a nutshell.

Sen. Mark Pryor, D-Ark., voted with President Bush more often than all but two other Democrats last year, a trend that may explain why he has not drawn a Republican opponent for his re-election bid.
