Huck's brokered convention dream

Posted By on Fri, Feb 22, 2008 at 11:31 AM

Mike Huckabee is elaborating now on the strategy Ed Rollins mentioned earlier -- to carry the conservative banner into the Republican Convention if the outcome isn't already decided.

Small detail: He has to win Texas. And probably Ohio, too.

I"ve been wrong before about Mike Huckabee. But I still think, for his long-term future, that pigeonholing himself as the standard-bearer for religious conservatives isn't a winning strategy. That's the role he played against Dale Bumpers, who spanked him. His turn as something of a moderate who wasn't obsessed by his social views proved far more successful.

This is his quest anyway, no matter how hopeless, to march into hell for a heavenly goal.
