All's quiet at UALR

Posted By on Thu, Feb 28, 2008 at 1:33 PM

UALR held a news conference this morning to assure everyone that all was well on campus following the shooting of a 33-year-old student yesterday afternoon by campus tennis courts. The student, James Earl Matthews, is making progress recovering from gunshot wounds. Security procedures are being evaluated. But officials say the campus, judgingby federally required crime reports, is among the safest.

Police have a suspect, not in custody at last report. Indications are that the shooter and the victim knew each other. This suggests this wasn't a random mugging.
