Thanks to a tipster for sending along links to the continuing court record in the case of Dwayne Dobbins, the unopposed Democratic candidate for state representative from North Little Rock, who was given a reduced sentence to a charge of sexually molesting a 17-year-old girl in 2005 in return for his resignation from the legislature. He filed at the 11th hour to run again, when it was clear nobody else was going to declare for the post, including the incumbent, his wife Sharon.

Dobbins says he wants the world to move on. No doubt. Sen. Tracy Steele, too, urged kindness for his former colleague, telling a reporter Dobbins had been “humble” and “remorseful.”

I urge you to look instead at the record of Dobbins’ circuit court appeal (still pending) of the state Department of Human Services’ decision to put him on the state Child Maltreatment Central Registry. Does Arkansas really want a member of this select club sitting in the legislature? All the seamy details of his pawing of an underage girl can be found in the document.
