Republicans: Rebuilding

The Republican Party, which once claimed two statewide officers, a U.S. senator, two congressmen and a steadily growing legislative contingent, now is rebuilding from the bottom up, its party leaders say  in explaining the lack of entries for top offices in this year's elections. Susan Powers of Ark. State, a Republican political scientist, puts it mildly when she says the Huckabee years didn't do much for party building.
