Bon voyage

Posted By on Wed, Mar 19, 2008 at 8:19 PM

Here's a Wednesday night open line and a farewell.

I'm off to China in a few hours and will be gone about three weeks. (Not to worry about the homefront, as some have in the past -- vigilant caretakers and my fierce bulldog will be on guard.) We think we have a schedule for Times staffers and some guest bloggers to supply continuing fresh news, opinion, talking points, rumor and innuendo while I'm away.

Tips are welcome. Send them to

I'll be checking in from time to time, depending on Internet access.

An early reminder: My plane connections willing, I'll fly back from Tokyo just in time to close out the KUAR Spring Begathon with Rosi Smith of Children's Hospital at 6:30 a.m. Friday, April 11. The customary Blog matching program will be in effect. Save your nickels. We'll post a reminder here that week.
