Who's in charge here?

Mayor Stodola will convene a meeting of a new Tourism Committee at noon today that will “seek ways to build on Little Rock’s great momentum,” he said in a press release.

We thought the city’s LR Convention and Visitors Bureau was entrusted with that job. Could Mark Abernathy, owner of Loca Luna and Bene Vita, be right when he says the  tourism agency's focus has been on running city parking decks? (His angle: He wants to do away with the hamburger tax, saying it only benefits restaurants downtown.)

Jim Rice of the LRCVB said the mayor’s appointment of a tourism committee came as news to him.

I'm sure there's a reason, but Dan O'Byrne and Stodola couldn't be reached for comment this a.m.
